One Happy Boy

On Tuesday, Tate and I spent the afternoon at the allergist. Tate has been allergic to eggs as well as peanuts and now all other tree nuts. His allergy to eggs has not been quite as severe as his nut allergies. So, the allergist has been wanting to see if his body is now ready for eggs. We brought up a piece of cake with eggs of course to the doctor and Tate had to eat the cake under doctors supervision. He was allowed to eat a bite of cake every fifteen minutes. They would monitor his heart beat, watch for a developing rash and any other possible symptoms of a reaction. After two and half hours, Tate finally finished his one piece of cake and did so without any reaction. Tate is now able to eat eggs that are baked in things. As Tate was eating the cake he kept commenting how good this cake was and that is was the best cake ever. It is amazing what a cake with eggs tastes like. Sooooo good. On the way home we started talking about how now he can try cookies, brownies and donuts and a whole bunch of other good stuff. Tate decided he wanted a donut party. So, on the way home we stopped at Macey's and Tate for the first time got to pick out donuts that he could eat!!! Talk about one excited little boy. Here are a few pictures from our donut party.

Tate after his first bite.

Taking another big bite and loving every minute.

Doesn't that face just show you how happy he is.

I loved how he ate all of the chocolate frosting off of the top of the donut first. Typical kid.

I think that smile pretty much tells it all. Now he thinks he should get donuts every day!

Back to the Pumpkin Patch

Tate loved his field trip to the Pumpkin Patch so much that he really thought that his dad needed to go to the pumpkin patch as well. So last Saturday we took advantage of the beautiful weather (along with everyone else) and went to the Red Barn in Santaquin. Tate loved it. They offer a hayride out to their pumpkin patch where you get to pick your own pumpkins. After Tate picked out his perfect pumpkin we headed back to the barn for some yummy ice cream. I was so excited when I discovered they have licorice ice cream. Licorice ice cream is by far the best ice cream around. Well, at least to me. Kraig, on the other hand, despises it. Tate ordered his favorite green ice cream (mint chocolate chip) and I ordered Licorice. After Tate took about 2 licks of his, he wanted to try mine. I really didn't think he would like it much so I gave him a taste. I was wrong he loved it. After a few bites he handed be his ice cream and took mine and said, "Mom, we can share. That is being kind." I really did not want to share by ice cream, but how do you tell your precious 3 year old that mommy doesn't share her licorice ice cream. So, Tate enjoyed some yummy ice cream that day. And me, I ate his green ice cream. If the line wasn't so long, I would have gone and bought more ice cream. I guess this just means we will be going back to the barn very soon.

Tate trying my ice cream. And yes, he likes it.

Stopping to pose for a picture.

So proud of himself for sharing his ice cream. Notice that is my licorice ice cream.

Driving his own tractor.

Getting ready to go home. What a great day!

Field Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

Last week Tate went on his first real preschool field trip. He has gone in the past when I have taken my previous preschool groups, but this time was his first one as a legitimate preschooler. We headed out to Orem to the Vineyard Gardens and Pumpkin Patch. It was a beautiful day, but very crowded. The kids all seemed to have a great time. Tate loved going through the corn maze and seeing all of the scarecrows. He also loved stopping to read all of the Halloween Jokes that were posted in the maze. He really didn't understand many of them, but he and his friend Micah had a good time laughing at them. We had to stop and read every one of them.

Tate and his cute preschool class ready to start a fun day at the Pumpkin Patch.
Tate, Hannah and Cooper. We had to stop and let everyone get their picture taken. They all loved this.

All of the kids "lost" in the corn maze.
Tate peeking out from inside a pumpkin.

Tate rarely looks right at the camera for a picture anymore, so this is what I always end up with.
Tate, Cooper and Alex playing on the tire swing. They all loved this. There was always a big line to wait on so you could have a turn on the swing.

Tate and his huge melons

And it came to pass in the year of Obama 2008 a great watermelon famine did fall upon the land of Cannon, insomuch that the faithful did begin to disbelieve in their watermelon growing abilities. For in the year of Obama 2008, not one plant did grow, but the weeds thereof were exceedingly great. Yea, the inhabitants of the land Cannon did search hither and yon for the cause of their plight and did find naught the cause.
And it came to pass in the year of Obama 2009 that the field was dug and ready to be planted and the matron of the manor did wonder if the bounty which is watermelon would grow. And yea, after many sleepless minutes she did plant her watermelon seeds with faith that they might produce mighty melons from the vine.
And behold after dunging and mulching the field, a sprout did shoot forth from the earth, and the people of the land Cannon did rejoice that the great watermelon famine of 2008 had ended, and did watch over the sprouts, which were plentiful, with vigilance. Truly the God of all things Melony hath bestowed this bounty upon the faithful.
And the field did become ripe and ready (hopefully) to harvest. Yea, the youth of the land did lay siege upon the vine and did thrust in their tiny shovels to dig out the vine. And behold, the melons were abundant, insomuch that the youth did ride upon the melons in triumph.

They look ripe, but our knowledge of these beasts is meager at best. We harvested one earlier in the summer and it wasn't close to being edible. Hopefully we've waited long enough for them to ripen.

Gymnastics Party

Last week Tate was invited to a birthday party for his friends Ellie and Jonathan. It was at Airtime Gymnastics. Tate had the greatest time. He loved every minute of it. He said his favorite was "jumping on the big trampoline that never ended." They had so many fun things for the kids to do. Tate got so excited to come home and tell his dad all about the "best party ever." Thanks for such a great time Ellie and Jonathan!

Going down the slide.

The Balance Beam. Not exactly sure where is other sock disappeared to!

Rolling around on the mat.

Practicing his hula hooping skills.

Getting a running start!

Jumping across the trampoline!
This was seriously such a fun party. It was so cute to see all of the kids leave with bright red faces from running and playing so hard.

A Few Random Pictures

I was going through my e-mails and found a few random pictures that my mom had sent me from when they were home in June. I loved some of them I found so I just had to post them.

Tate is teaching Papa Joe how to play baseball.

Tate loves riding in Papa Joe's truck. This is Tate and Hyrum riding in the back of the truck on the way home from Brooklyn's baptism. Tate is still talking about how they have to look out for ghosts when they ride in Papa Joe's truck.

Tate is showing off for Grandma. He got this scooter from Grandma for Christmas and this was the first time she got to see him ride it. He was doing all sorts of tricks.

Once again showing off for Grandma. Tate had to show Grandma all of the things she had missed out on while she is on her mission.

We're Going to The Zoo!

Last week when the weather was absolutely perfect, my friend Jenn and I decided to take a trip to the zoo to see all of the baby animals. The weather was so nice and the kids seemed to have a great time. I loved the baby elephant. I think that is probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. It was such a fun time to go with the baby elephants, giraffes and tigers.

Look how dang cute that is!!! I can't stand it.
Tate and Hannah. Tate loved having a map for the day. He would spend his time checking out the map and letting us know what animals we still needed to see.

Tate and the bear. This is the first time I have actually seen the bear. I have only seen it through the mirrors that you have to look at if you want to see the bear down below. It was fun to see the bear.
Tate loved the lion drinking fountains. I think we had to take his picture at each one we saw. He suddenly became thirsty anytime he saw one of these drinking fountains.

You can see the baby giraffe in the background. The baby giraffe was super cute, too. The baby giraffe was Tate's favorite.

Tate and Hannah checking out the giraffes.

Hannah and Tate on the tiger. Tate loved the statues of all the animals. He wanted his picture taken on one of each animal he saw.
The classic Zoo picture. You have to have your picture taken next to the gorilla.

I love Tate's face in this picture. He thought it was neat to put his hand next to a gorillas hand.

In the back you can barely see the orangutan. Tate loved watching them. We were there right as they were being fed.

Tate and the gorilla.
Tate sitting in the boat. He loved playing in this. He and Hannah were playing that Hannah was the princess and Tate had to rescue her from the boat. Too cute.
