Cosmo Comes to School

Tate loves to watch the Cougars play football, well, he mostly just watches for Cosmo. Our neighbor knows how much Tate likes Cosmo, so when the school sent home a note saying that the kids could walk to school with Cosmo this week, she invited Tate to come along. We got up early on Monday and got dressed and ready so we could walk to school with Kayla and have our picture taken with Cosmo. Tate couldn't have been more excited. He kept telling me that he was going to give Cosmo a high five and take his picture. When we got to school, Cosmo wasn't there. Cosmo must have forgotten. Tate was so upset. We were walking into the school to see Kayla's class when Tate saw the picture of Cosmo on the door of the school. My neighbor suggests that I take his picture next to the poster and see if that makes Tate more happy. At the same time he yells out, "Look mom, Cosmo's picture is on the door. He did come to school. Let's take my picture with him." So, we took Tate's picture next to the poster of Cosmo and his whole day was made. Thank goodness for the poster.

Where is my backpack?

I teach preschool here at our house, so Tate gets to come along and join the kids at preschool. It was the second day of school and all of the kids were getting their backpacks out so they could show their Show and Tell. Tate sat on the rug and watched as each child showed off their things from home. When they were done, Tate raises his hand and with the saddest face and voice says, "Mom, where is my backpack? I need to bring a Show and Tell." I felt so bad. I didn't realize that he would really catch on or even realize that he didn't have one. Oops. That night he told Kraig about it and Kraig went and got out his backpack. Tate now brings that to school with him and fills it with treaures. Here he is with his "new" backpack. He is all ready for his first Show and Tell.

Tate's New Love

Tate is his mom's boy, at least when it comes to loving horses. He loved riding the horses at Thanksgiving point and was so happy when there were pony rides at Kraig's summer work party. He was not about to eat dinner until he had ridden the horses. He kept wanting to ride again and again. When the horse rides were over for the night we was so sad. He told me that he wanted to buy a horse. I told him probably not, but talk to Kenny, Kraig's boss. So, of course, Tate quickly says, "Kenny, you buy me a horse." Kenny smiles and jokingly says, "Sure." Now, Tate is convinced that Kenny is going to buy him a horse. Tate has been telling everyone that Kenny is going to buy him a horse one day. Kenny, we are still waiting for the horse.

So happy! This is the life.

Not so happy! This is Tate after having to be dragged off of the horse rides. Life is tough.

A True Country Boy

I think we are raising ourselves a little country boy. Tate loves horses, rodeos, cowboys, cows, fairs, tractors and everything country. I took Tate to the Utah County Fair that was held here in Spanish Fork. He thought it was the greatest thing ever. He loved sitting on the tractors, watching the sheep and the cows and of course the rides. I let him choose two rides. He pretty much chose the same ride both times, but oh well. Whatever keeps him happy. He thought he was pretty neat driving a car and then a boat. The things that entertain!

Driving his purple car. "Look mom, I am the fastest driver. Just like Lightning McQueen."
So happy to be riding in a boat.
Ready to hit the fields.
Now this is just my size.

Call Us Crazy

My sister and I and apparently the rest of Utah County heard about the great deal at Thanksgiving Point. All events at Thanksgiving Point were only a dollar on Tuesdays during the month of August. We decided to spend a day up there and go to the Dinosaur Museum, the Petting Zoo and the Children's Discovery Park. It was a long day, but so much fun. Tate loved digging in the sand for fossils, playing in the water and being with his cousins. It was so crowded, but I guess that is how memories are made.

A Visit from the North Carolina Cousins

Kraig's cousin and his wife and children came to visit, along with his aunt and uncle. Tate was so excited to meet his cousins, Jack and George. They had so much fun playing together. While they were here, they spent a day at Thanksgiving Point petting the animals and riding the horses. They also loved playing outside at Grandma's, eating tons of treats and playing with the swords that Grandpa Cannon made. They had such a fun weekend.
Photo opportunity. All of the weekends riding the cow.
