This past weekend was our ward's Father and Son's Campout. Kraig thought it would be fun to go and take Tate on his first camping trip. Tate was so excited. On Friday, we went to the store and picked out what they would eat for dinner and what snacks they wanted. Tate asked all day when dad was going to be home so they could go camping. Kraig finally got home, they loaded up the car and headed out. Tate loved the tent. He wanted to stay and play in it all afternoon. Kraig had to talk him out of the tent so they could go down to the reservoir and to the playground for awhile. He loved playing in the water and the sand. Camping was the greatest, until it got dark and cold. Then, all Tate wanted was to go home. They cooked hot dogs over the fire and roasted marshmallows and then got ready to go back to the tent to go to bed. At that point, the tent was no longer cool. Tate just wanted to go home to his own bed and to see his mommy. After an hour or so, Kraig gave in. They packed up the car and headed home. It was a fun night for the two of them. Too bad they didn't actually get to camp. However, according to Tate, he loves camping! Good thing he has a kind and patient dad.

LOL that is awesome! I'm glad they got to go and spend the evening, even if they didn't stay to sleep in the tent! That last picture is fantastic, I can't stop laughing--even though it's sad too!
Too funny!
Why is it that on great little trip kids love the simplest parts? aka - the tent. A good story for the record books.
I am so glad that Kraig and Tate enjoyed "tent bonding" experience. I loved the pictures. Tate looks so happy and so grown up sitting in the tent eating his treats. However, the last pictures tells it all. I loved it and could not quit laughing. Hopefully he'll understand separation from mom before his mission!
